Exclude Individual Pages or Posts From Search Results with Yoast SEO plugin JPG

In this tutorial I will explain how you can exclude pages or posts from the Google search results. This might be helpful if you have any pages or posts on your website and you don’t want them to show up in the search engines, and it’s very easy to with the free Yoast SEO plugin.

Now let me walk you through the steps that you must take to exclude a specific page or post from the search engines!

Install the Yoast SEO plugin

As you can see, I’m logged in into the WordPress dashboard and the first thing you need to do is you have to make sure that you have the Yoast SEO plugin installed.

Exclude pages or posts from Google search results with Yoast

Let’s say for example I want to exclude an post from the search results. To do that I go the menu and click on Posts to see an overview of all the posts. Now you can click Edit for a specific post.

Go to advanced options and exclude post form the search engines

Now if I scroll down, you the Yoast SEO options being showed over there.
If you want to exclude the post from the search results, you just have to go to the Advanced option and click on it to display the options.

Over here you can see the option allows search engines to show this post in the search results. By default, it has been set to yes. You can select no to exclude the post from the search engines.

If you select no then the search engines won’t be able to show this post in the search results. And below that you have another option. You can see should search engines follow links on this post. By default, it has been set to Yes, but if you want to make sure that all the links that are mentioned in this post cannot be followed by the search engines, you can select no as well.

Save changes to exclude page or post from the Google search results

Make sure to click on update if you want to save the changes.

For pages it works the same way, just go to the pages overview and select an page. Then go to the Yoast settings and select No for the option should search engines follow links on this post.
